THE MANCHESTER UNITED faithful have never been Arsene Wenger’s biggest fans, as some Arsenal followers have been very keen to point out amid his latest remarks.
Wenger is purported to have told BeIN Sports: “Redditlol Manchester United is a dream job.

“For any coach. I have confidence, I have courage, and you’re right, I have ideas.”
While there is some debate over the exact nature of the quotes, fans online began the debate over the Frenchman’s hypothetical move.
United supporters insisted they would love to wind up their Gunners counterparts by returning to success under Wenger.
One Reddit fan wrote on Wednesday: “Make it happen just for the banter.”
Another said: “I’d sacrifice my left nut for that to happen.”
While one remarked: “Seems like he’s putting himself forward to be honest. I’m also curious as to who he thinks the four players [he says United need] are, because unless they’re Messi, Messi, Messi and Messi, we’re not close to challenging for anything lol.”
But there were plenty of Arsenal fans willing to point out the hypocrisy of Red Devils who have long lambasted the three-time title winner.
In particular, sick chants that sprung up occasionally among United supporters calling Wenger a paedophile were brought up.
At the height of their rivalry, Sir Alex Ferguson was compelled to condemn the “sit down you paedophile” chants as “ridiculous”.
Amid these latest links, one Reddit user spat back: “Your lot spent 20 years calling him a paedophile.”
Another added: “Wenger is not going to tarnish his legacy with Arsenal by working for United to transition their team back to ‘greatness’. Why would he do something like that? He is an Arsenal legend through and through.”
Twitter user Rob posted: “Utd fans really getting excited about a quote from Wenger? Yet you keep reminding us of all the hammerings we took under him, including 8-2. All this less than 24hrs after needing penalties to beat Rochdale at HOME! Smart bunch.”
And Umar added: “If I see Wenger managing Manchester only to beat us when we play them…if I say what I’ll do I’ll get suspended.”
Still, some of the Arsenal persuasion saw the opportunity for their former hero to drag United even further down.
One Gooner commented: “Wenger would sacrifice his reputation to relegate them.”
Another added: “Oh boy. Reminds me of when latter day Fergie used to sprinkle some praise on us towards the end of the trophy drought.”
